Fog Rising

Today’s image is another one from my recent visit to Vermont.  The village of East Corinth was high on my list of locations to shoot after seeing some images of the town online, and more importantly, after learning that it was the setting for the movie Beetlejuice.  It’s one of Tim Burton’s best movies, and one of my personal favorites, and I of course had to watch it again after photographing the area.

I had arrived here before sunrise, hoping for some nice light on the church and the surrounding landscape.  I was instead greeted by a blanket of fog that obscured anything further than two feet in front of me.  So after waiting for some time with no relief from the fog, I decided to get back in my car and explore the area in hopes of returning later to see the fog rising before the sun got too high.  About an hour later I came back to the same spot, and found gorgeous light hitting the church and colorful trees behind it as the fog began to lift.  It was a truly amazing scene, and I was fortunate to have timed my return just right.  Have I mentioned that I love Vermont in the fall?

Tree Lined

I’ve really been drawn to tree-lined paths and roads this fall, and have found myself seeking them out quite a bit.  While I haven’t been able to make many images of them that I like, I was able to capture this one at Appleton Farms in Ipswich, MA.  In addition to the tree-lined dirt road, I was also able to incorporate the welcome center house in the background framed by one of these beautiful trees.

Most of the leaves have fallen now, but overall it was a pretty nice fall season.  I’m saving some colorful foliage images to post in the future on some of the cold and snowy days that unfortunately aren’t too far away.

Have a great weekend.

Trees in the Fog

Clever title, huh?  I thought I’d stick with the fall images for one more day with this shot I grabbed the other morning at a local farm.  The fog really made the colors pop, and I decided to soften the image a little further with some adjustments in OnOne’s Perfect Effects to create a kinda ethereal effect.  Hope you like it.

Have a great weekend.

 Almost Peak

Back to some fall foliage images today.  While we’re not quite at peak color in Massachusetts, most of the area is pretty full with incredible yellows, reds, and oranges to photograph.   It’s hard to not pull the car over every few minutes when you come across trees like this everywhere you turn.  So needless to say, I pulled over.

Well it’s fall in New England, and regrettably I haven’t been able to get out and shoot.  At all.  So I’m dipping into the archives for an autumn image from a few years ago.  I was going through an experimental phase with camera movement when I captured this impressionistic view of the fall colors.  Definitely not my normal thing, but I kinda like the way this one turned out.  Not sure I can say the same thing about most of my other attempts at this, but I remember it being fun trying.
