Oh Buoy, It's Cold

Sorry for the dumb title, but sometimes these things get the best of me.  This image was originally destined for the recycle bin when I first looked at it, but upon a second review and some processing, I ended up making it into something I like.  For this very reason, I rarely delete photos immediately when I first load them on the computer.  Sometimes it takes a second or third look before I see an image’s true potential.

For this image, it just need some desaturation and some heavy vignetting to get to the vision I originally had when I pressed the shutter.  Now this philosophy means I have a lot of images on my hard drive that I’ll probably never process or post, but it does provide the opportunity to review older shoots, and pull out a few gems that may have eluded me the first time around.  Please click on the image for a larger view.

Glad it didn’t make it into the trash bin. Wonderful processing and I do like the title 🙂

It sure has been cold this year. I don’t delete any images until the third time through, usually a year after I shoot them. I am glad this one survived.

I agree whole-heartedly Steven – I too have some photos that may never see the light of day but there a few I’ve revisited with great success so I’m hesitant to delete some of the borderliners 🙂 Loved your title as well as your final product 🙂

I follow the same type of approach to yours with files. It’s easy to chuck stuff out too fast and then regret it, and there’s is often something to be found at a second look. I love this and the way you’ve processed it, Steven.
